How It Works

Dallas County Data is a Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) that utilizes state of the art technology to bring secure, reliable, high speed bandwidth. We use only the best equipment to ensure reliability, redundancy, and high throughput throughout our network. Our monitoring system alerts us to any problems in the network so we can fix the issue quickly.

  • 1. What is Fixed Wireless?

Fixed Wireless Internet provides High Speed Internet access to a single location through radio waves. This eliminates the need for phone or cable lines.

  • 2. Site Survey

As a line of sight service, our technician will verify if service is available at your location. Our technician will ensure you’re within range and the line of sight is not obstructed by trees, buildings or hills.

  • 3. Outside Install

A radio antenna (dish) will be installed outside. Mounting options vary by building type and location. Our technician will inform you of the best location for the dish to be mounted, and what type of mount will be needed.

  • 4. Inside Install

An ethernet cable will be run from the radio antenna outside to the router in your home. A computer or other internet device is then connected to complete the connection to the Network.

WISPs use fixed wireless broadband technology to deliver the same high speeds and service of traditional broadband providers, but delivered wirelessly, as opposed through buried cables.

The small antenna placed on your home or business receives a direct signal from a WISP tower nearby. Unlike technology used for cellular data, the wireless connection from your home “end point” and the tower allows for fast reliable service via a fixed wireless connection. This prevents the interrupted data experienced by cell phone users that often happens as signal bounces from one tower to another.
